Grace and Good Works

 Ecclesiastes 1-3; Psalms. 45; Ephesians 2

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Ephesians 2:8-10

These towering words and truths have brought life and freedom to countless people through the ages. Salvation and peace with God is a gift of God’s grace and there is no amount of religious activity that will earn them. This one truth distinguishes the way of Jesus from every other religion in the world. Those who have experienced salvation and forgiveness by faith in Christ are saved for a purpose. Our lives have meaning in God’s family. We are all called to good works which God has prepared for each of us. Our lives are meant to bless others. We were blessed to be a blessing. God’s plan for our lives is not finished with our salvation. There is an abundant life to live on mission with Jesus, for His glory.

“Lord Jesus, thank you for your gift of salvation and forgiveness. Make me a blessing to others this day.”
