Living for Eternity

2 Kings 11-12; 2 Chronicles 24; 1 Timothy 6

“But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called…”

1 Timothy 6:11-12

What we pursue in life defines us. Those who pursue money are shaped by it. Those who pursue the values and character of the kingdom of God are transformed from glory to glory into the image of Christ. We will look and act more and more like Jesus if we daily surrender to the life and work of His Spirit at work within us. The process of transformation is very active and involves our will. We must flee from sin, pursue the fruit of the Spirit, fight the good fight of the faith and take hold of the eternal life which Jesus has offered us. This is not a passive journey, but a daily yielding of our will to the Spirit of God and the pursuit of His will and His ways.

“Lord Jesus, I yield to your will and ways this day. Fill me with the joy of my salvation and the expectation of heaven, for your glory.”
