Jesus is our Peace

Micah 5-7; Hebrews 7

“He will stand and shepherd his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. And they will live securely, for then his greatness will reach to the ends of the earth. And he will be their peace.”

Micah 5:4, 5a

“…because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him…”

Hebrews 7:24, 25

Peace is not found in the absence of conflict, or on a piece of paper. Peace is found in a person named Jesus Christ. Peace begins in our hearts as we surrender to our Creator God and receive the mercy and forgiveness he offers to us through Jesus. Jesus continues to stand as our peace-pledge before the King of kings, and he makes intercession for us. Filled with his peace, we too become ambassadors of God’s peace plan and ministers of reconciliation. Without the reconciling work of Jesus on the cross, there is no language for peace between people and nations, nor within individual lives. As we proclaim the gospel of peace found in Jesus Christ, we declare the rule of Christ’s kingdom above every other kingdom.

Are this peace and this mission transforming our lives?

“Lord Jesus, you are my peace and your gospel is our peace plan. Thank you for your saving, healing, and reconciling power in my life, and in your world.”
