Our Inheritance Now

 Philippians 1-4

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:4-7

Our primary responsibility in life as disciples of Christ is to remain in constant communion with him so we can follow and obey. There is nothing the enemy of our souls is trying to disrupt more than this. When we live in communion with Jesus through the Spirit, we are filled with joy, peace, and rest, no matter how full or challenging our circumstances. Prayer is another word for this ongoing communion with God. The blockages to this communion are anxiety, fear, selfish pursuits, pride, and willful sin. God invites us to a better way. Rejoice always, it is a choice. When we release control to God and in humility surrender all to him, we will experience gentleness, peace, and rest in God. This is our inheritance in God’s family as his dearly loved children.

“Lord Jesus, thank you for the joy, peace, and thanksgiving that come through full surrender of everything to you.”
