The Blessing of Repentance

Exodus 17-20; Acts 3

“…He said to Abraham, ‘Through your offspring all peoples on earth will be blessed. When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways.’”

Act 3:25, 26

What does it mean for God to “bless us”?

We often think of healing or material possessions when we think of blessings. But in this “street sermon” by Peter, he quotes the Abrahamic blessing in the context of Christ’s ministry to the Jews, calling them to repentance from wicked ways.

How much has God blessed us?

To what degree are we living in repentance and turning from wicked ways?

The blessing of repentance is that we experience God’s forgiveness and grace, and that we find freedom from sin’s bondage. In our struggle against “the world, the sinful nature, and the devil” (Ephesians 2:1-3), our objective is to live each day in unbroken fellowship and communion with God through the Holy Spirit. This is the good news which God desires all nations to experience!

How “blessed” are we?

“Lord Jesus, I humble myself before you and pray for your Spirit to expose each area of my life that requires repentance, so that I can live and share your blessing.
