Walls of Strength and Protection

Lamentations 1- 2; Obadiah; Revelations 14 

“The Lord determined to tear down the wall around the Daughter of Zion. He stretched out a measuring line and did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away. The gates have sunk into the ground;…”

Lamentations 2:8, 9

Just as Israel trusted in her protective walls more than the Lord God, we too, can trust in our retirement accounts, our national strength, or our cultural pride more than the Lord. God tore down the wall around Zion because his people had turned to other gods.

What does God need to do to get our attention?

In our day, Israel looks to the United States for protection and support. 

What would happen if God removed that “wall” around Israel?

Would the people call out to the Lord?

We all can trust in earthly protection and strength rather than the Lord; yet, there is no greater power than the hand of the Lord. Putting our lives, our families, or our nation in the hands of the Lord is the safest place we can be.

How is God inviting us to renew our trust in him today?

“Father God, I place my life, family, and nation in your hands. You are my wall of fire and protection wherever I am, for your glory.”
