Anticipating Salvation
Hebrews 9-11
“…Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him…he (Abraham) was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God…they were longing for a better country – a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.”
Hebrews 9:28; 11:10, 16
Are we anticipating heaven?
Our salvation includes much more than the forgiveness of sin. Jesus’ second coming will bring salvation to those who are waiting for him - salvation from this earthly body of sin, salvation from death, salvation from living for ourselves. Abraham experienced salvation as did Moses, David, Samuel, and a host of others who lived for God and his eternal kingdom. They were longing for a better country and looking forward to an eternal city.
Are we living with this kind of anticipation, or are we content with our version of “heaven on earth”?
“Lord Jesus, thank you for your eternal salvation plan and welcome into heaven which fills me with anticipation today, for your glory.”
