The Blessing of Generosity
Proverbs 10-12; Romans 10
“One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.”
Proverbs 11:24, 25
Generosity changes the state of our heart, our home, and even our meetings. In an atmosphere of generosity there is encouragement, blessing, and love. When we believe that all we have belongs to the Lord, we are generous because he is generous with us. Generosity is in the nature of God, reflected in creation around us, reflected in his love and grace toward us, and reflected in his preparation of heaven for us.
Are we generous like our heavenly Father?
When we are generous with our hospitality we welcome people into the generous love we ourselves have experienced in God and they are refreshed by that love. Generosity and hospitality are marks of God’s people transformed by his love.
“Father God, thank you for your incredible generosity toward me. I pray now for your generosity, given through me to others, for your glory.”
