The Rhythm of Rest

1 Kings 2; 1 Chronicles 29; Psalms. 95; 2 Thessalonians 1

“Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah…’They shall never enter my rest.’”

Psalm 95:6-8, 11

It is in worship, surrender, and submission that we learn to follow the voice of our Shepherd. To enter into his care, we must release our cares to him. We feed in his pasture under his provision. His voice calls us to not harden our hearts by murmuring and complaining about what we don’t have, rather than expressing gratitude for what we do have. Living with gratitude, worship, and surrender as daily disciplines brings rest to our soul and peace to our being. This is God’s invitation to his people, “Come,  bow down…”

“Lord God, you are worthy of my worship. I surrender all to you this day. Thank you for rest, for your glory.”
