The Peace of God and God of Peace

1 Kings 15; 2 Chronicles 13-14; Philippians 4

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God…will guard your hearts and your minds…Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure…think about such things…And the God of peace will be with you.”

Philippians 4:6, 7, 8, 9

We have a choice with what we do with troubling thoughts. We can both ‘stew’ over them and grow in our anxiety and agitation, or we can surrender these thoughts, relationships, problems, and troubles to God in prayer. God promises when we choose to surrender our anxiety and its causes to him, his peace will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Our daily choice then is to not just surrender troubling thoughts to God, but to actively meditate and think on topics which are true, noble, right, and pure. It is our choice whether to actively pursue wholesome topics on which to meditate. God’s very presence in peace will be with those who honor him with their thoughts.

Is God worshiped in the inner sanctuary of our minds?

“Lord Jesus, you are my peace and sufficiency this day, for your glory.”
