Confession and Healing

2 Kings 18,19; 2 Chronicles 32; James 5

“Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him, and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed…”

James 5:14-16

The confession of sin to one another breaks the power of the enemy’s hold over our thoughts and lives, and invites the healing power of the Spirit of God into our lives. When we confess sin to one another, we come out of the darkness and into the light of God’s presence together. It is God who forgives, heals, and delivers, but he has placed us in the Body of Christ so we could minister his grace to one another. Praying together for healing gives a wonderful opportunity to confess our sins to one another and walk in the light together. Healing of our hearts, bodies, and minds is our inheritance as God’s children.

“Lord Jesus, thank you for the courage to confess our sin and pray for healing, for your glory.”
