Death at Work in Us

 Judges 19-21; 2 Corinthians 4

“We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.”

2 Corinthians 4:10-12

If we don’t carry the death of Jesus in our body, will the life of Jesus be revealed in our body?

If death is not at work in us, will the resurrection life and power of God be at work in and through us?

We long for the power of the Spirit in our lives and the life of the Church, but who wants death to self, and death even to the rejection of others?

Paul literally faced death in Lystra after healing a crippled man and rejecting the worship of the crowds. His focus on preaching the gospel was stronger than his self-preservation.

Will we, too, fully surrender out lives to Christ so his death is at work in us?

Will we yield our bodies to the infilling of the Holy Spirit each day, so the resurrection power of Christ can live through us?

“Lord Jesus, I surrender all to you and repent for the life of self. I choose to live for you, for your glory.”
