Faithfulness

Judges 17-18; Psalms 89; 2 Corinthians 3 

“…Who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings?...O Lord God Almighty, who is like you? You are mighty, O Lord, and your faithfulness surrounds you…Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you…My faithful love will be with him, and through my name his horn will be exalted.”

Psalm 89:6, 8, 14, 24

Faithfulness, consistent, trustworthy, steadfast love is not just what God does, it is who he is. The word for faithfulness is ‘emunah’. As Jesus always lives to make intercession for us, he is praying faithfulness into our lives. He is praying for those of us who are living within the blessings of Christ and God’s covenant love so that we, too, would be faithful and steadfast, unmovable in our love and devotion to Christ. As we fix our eyes on Jesus and are filled with his Spirit, we carry his name and represent his character to the world. We are faithful, steadfast, and trustworthy because the Lord Jesus who indwells us is faithful.
