The Triumph

Revelation 5-9

“Then one of the elders said to me, ‘Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.’                                                               ’…You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.’”

Revelation 5:5, 9, 10

The turning point in salvation-history occurred when the Lamb of God triumphed. The Lamb of God from the tribe of Judah in the line of David offered his life as a sinless sacrifice for the sin of the world. Jesus Christ satisfied God’s judgment of sin and defeated the consequences in death, forever liberating those living under the fear of death. Jesus is worthy to take the scroll and open its seals of judgment because through his victory over sin and death Jesus offers a way of escape for all who put their faith in him. He is worthy because he endured the worst judgment those seals can deliver. This message of salvation is transforming every nation on earth as the kingdom of God establishes Christ’s reign in the lives of millions of people.

Are we entering a new year with hope because of this triumph?

“Lord Jesus, thank you for your gift of hope, for your glory.”
