Initiating Change

Daniel 11-12; Luke 6

“’Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Luke 6:37, 38

Jesus empowers his disciples to be initiators in changing culture. We are to take the initiative in not judging, not condemning, in forgiving, and in showing generosity. When we show mercy and forgive our enemies, we look like our Father in heaven and testify that we are his children. The principle of reciprocity reminds us that initiating kindness is a better way to live and will be rewarded. We cannot out-give God! Our generosity releases God’s generosity to us.

Where is the Lord inviting us in new levels of kindness, forgiveness, generosity, and mercy?

How do we understand God’s nature or character toward us in all these areas?

“Lord Jesus, fill me with your love and mercy so my life represents you, for your glory.”
