Kingdom Advance
Ezra 4; Psalms 113, 127; Luke 9
“When Jesus had called the Twelve together, he gave them power and authority to drive out demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them out to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He told them: ‘Take nothing for the journey – no staff, no bag, no bread, no money, no extra tunic.’”
Luke 9:1-3
Jesus sent out his disciples, in faith and complete reliance on the Holy Spirit.
What do we rely on in our ministry?
Without money, these disciples relied on the generosity of the “man of peace” (Luke 10:6) in the community who would open a place for them to stay and offer food. Without ‘project funds,’ these disciples relied on prayer and preaching as their gifts. What Jesus clearly gave his disciples was power and authority.
Are we receiving from the Lord the most essential resources of the Spirit of God for the ministry-call we have received?
There is no other way to advance the kingdom of God.
“Lord Jesus, may your kingdom advance this day through your power and authority in my life, for your glory.”
