The Face of Him
Ezekiel 15-16; Psalms 70; Revelation 6
“Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and every slave and every free man hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. They called to the mountains and rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?’”
Revelation 6:15-17
Wealth and power are no defense against the wrath of God. Only the redeeming, cleansing blood of Christ, the sacrificial Lamb, can atone for our sin so we can stand before the throne of Almighty God. In the day of God’s wrath all the means of refuge and escape will be exposed and the most powerful people on earth will call on the rocks and mountains to crush them and keep them from the accountability of gazing into the face of God. Those who find salvation in Christ from their sin now, have the freedom to seek the face of God, and not run from him. We boldly seek the throne of grace to find help in our time of need. Because we fear God, we persuade men and women of his Gospel and the truth that one day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus, the Lamb of God, is Lord of lords.
Will we seek the face of God now?
“Lord Jesus, your blood has set me free to seek the Father’s face and invite others to the throne, for your glory.”
