Have Faith
Job 23-24; Mark 11-12
“’Have faith in God,’ Jesus answered. ‘Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.’”
Mark 11:22, 24, 25
This promise of Jesus to his disciples is rarely claimed.
Why? Because it is so audacious.
If our faith is to be rewarded, it is because it comes with a condition that requires us to live in right relationships with others as well as right relationship with God. When our faith is based on Christ’s kingdom-coming and his will being done on earth, we can be confident we are praying on solid ground. However, when our faith is in God answering selfish prayers, or when we have broken relationships, we are living outside the conditions of this promise.
Are we full of faith?
Are our prayers in step with the Spirit and full of faith?
Would we value freedom in all our relationships and in our life of faith as God does?
“Lord Jesus, set me free as I live with forgiveness. Fill me full of faith, for your glory.”
